Kakheti 2 Day Tour

Kakheti Tour in Georgia

Kakheti, eastern region, is Georgia’s premier wine-producing area. Almost three-quarters of the country's wine grapes are grown here, on land that has been used for viticulture for thousands of years. Scientists have discovered the world's oldest wine in Shulaveri ,Georgia - a vintage produced 8,000 years ago. The unique Georgian way of making wine was passed on by the Orthodox monks through the ages. What makes Georgian wine unique is kvevri – large clay vessels used for the fermentation and storage of wine since ancient times. Each village in Kakheti’s fertile valleys makes its unique wine. This living heritage is perpetuated in songs and poems, arts and crafts. The walled town of Sighnaghi, restored to its 18th century beauty, is known as a ‘City of Love’ and a city of craftsmen.

Day 2 of Kakheti Tour in Georgia

First site on our list is Gremi Complex. Gremi is a 16th-century architectural monument – the royal citadel and the Church of the Archangels – in KakhetiGeorgia. The complex is what has survived from the once flourishing town of Gremi. It was the capital of the Kingdom of Kakheti in the 16th and 17th centuries. It functioned as a lively trading town on the Silk Road and royal residence until being razed to the ground by the armies of Shah Abbas I of Persia in 1615. Tour continuous to wine cellar of “Khareba” located in the tunnel carved out of the rock. Travelers has a possibility to test different wines. Our tour continuous in Signagi. Although it is one of Georgia's smallest towns, Signagi serves as a popular tourist destination due to its location at the heart of Georgia's wine-growing regions, as well as its picturesque landscapes, pastel houses and narrow, cobblestone streets. Located on a steep hill, Signagi overlooks the vast Alazani Valley, with the Caucasus Mountains visible at a distance. On the way to Kutaisi we make a stop at Bodbe a Georgian Orthodox monastic complex. Originally built in the 9th century, it has been significantly remodeled, especially in the 17th century. The monastery now functions as a nunnery and is one of the major pilgrimage sites in Georgia, due to its association with St. Nino, the 4th-century female evangelist of Georgians, whose relics are shrined there. Continue our way to Kutaisi. Drop off at your hotel.
